When Levi's asked us to design a poster for the 501, we simply took a picture of their jeans – but not before deconstructing them down to the individual threads and buttons, and then reforming the pair and incorporating the sentence “This is a pair of Levis, sewed with the strongest thread”, conveniently found on the inside pocket of the jeans. The Challenge: Choose a set of opposites and present 10 examples of that pair.
The Solution: I chose opposite sides of the world. This book takes pairs of carefully selected ‘blog’ posts from antipodal points around the world. They are presented in a way that highlights differences across the human experience, while simultaneously exposing our inherent commonalities.
Exact antipodal points are presented across from each other on each spread. Entries for these paired up locations are taken from similar times, giving us a sense of what two people were thinking simultaneously on exact opposite sides of the world.
Inside you will find; a depressed single 31-year-old, a Spanish girl who wonders why she misses Kevin so much, a Kiwi mother of three going through a bitter divorce, a dejected would-be volleyball player, picked last from a group of 40, an Argentinian contemplating what love is, “Sandwich Girl” working in Antarctica, lesbian fantasies and a group of teen girls going to get new tattoos and piercings. These and twelve more single-day snippits from lives around the world.', 'Opposites');
